About this tee
Ever noticed demonstrators singing a version of 'Bella Ciao' at the marches? Originally a folk song sung by women working in harsh conditions in northern Italy's rice fields, it re-emerged after WWII as symbol of resistance against fascism and has since been embraced globally, representing struggle and defiance against oppression.
Hearing the song again in the wake of the government's frankly fascist decision to proscribe a direct action group as a terrorist organisation, I was inspired to create a t-shirt in solidarity with resistance.
The tee features Leila Khaled, who was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In 1969, she became the first woman to hijack an aeroplane. She's totally bad-ass, and incredibly beautiful.
